Associate professor Daša Grajfoner is an internationally renowned psychologist who has worked at universities in the United Kingdom, Austria and Slovenia. She has extensive research, teaching and practical experience in differential, organisational and coaching psychology. Her scientific work focuses on improving well-being and mental health through coaching psychology and animal-assisted interventions (AAI), where she has demonstrated the positive effects of interactions with animals on human mental health, psychological well-being and quality of life through a number of empirical studies. As a registered coaching psychologist with the British Psychological Society dr. Grajfoner develops and applies innovative approaches that combine insights from organisational psychology, coaching psychology and AAI to strengthen leadership competencies, emotional regulation and promote personal and team effectiveness.
The inaugural lecture by Professor Daša Grajfoner highlights the field of animal-assisted interventions (AAI) as an innovative and scientifically grounded approach to supporting mental health, fostering psychological well-being, and enhancing quality of life. It reflects the synergy of three central pillars of her work – research, teaching, and psychological practice – and demonstrates how animals can be integrated into diverse psychological contexts with the aim of holistically strengthening the mental health and well-being of individuals.
