DOBA is joining Slovenia’s nationwide digital clean-up campaign

This year, DOBA is once again joining the nationwide digital clean-up campaign (Očistimo Slovenijo digitalnih odpadkov). As part of last year’s campaign, we removed more than 400 GB of outdated and unnecessary data from local and cloud storage at DOBA. The employees’ clean-up campaign will take place on 19 March 2026.

Why are we cleaning up?

• Lower energy consumption: Data centres consume 1–1.5% of the world’s electricity, so less data means a lower energy burden.
• Less CO₂: The digital ecosystem generates 2–3% of global greenhouse gas emissions.
• Carbon footprint of storage: Storing 100 GB in the cloud creates approximately 0.2 tonnes of CO₂ per year, while 1 TB can generate up to 2 tonnes of CO₂ per year.

We encourage you to review and clean your digital devices and online accounts of outdated and unnecessary files. In doing so, you too will help achieve the goals of the campaign.
