The event highlights the role of University of Applied Sciencesas a prominent Slovenian partner in co-creating the future of European education.
From 20 to 22 April, DOBA Faculty will host a meeting of the European university alliance UP University, which brings together 11 higher education institutions from 11 European countries: Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, Austria, Finland, Spain, Romania, Italy, Albania, Ukraine, and Slovenia.
The event marks an important step in the development of European Universities, one of the European Union’s key initiatives for creating a common borderless education area. There are currently 73 such alliances across Europe, connecting nearly 650 higher education institutions, including DOBA Faculty as the only independent higher education institution in Slovenia involved in this initiative.
European Universities make an important contribution to the internationalisation of Slovenian higher education by strengthening international cooperation, mobility, and the quality of education. At the same time, they enhance Slovenia’s visibility as a knowledge-based country and foster the development of competencies needed to operate in a global environment.
Today, the UP University alliance connects approximately 125,000 students and 10,000 staff members and stands as a concrete example of how European cooperation can contribute to the development of knowledge, innovation, and regions. The event in Maribor therefore confirms Slovenia’s active role in the European higher education area and opens up new opportunities for students, researchers, and wider society.
'I see great potential in our cooperation and exchanges, and I look forward to meeting one another in Maribor – as partners and friends”. – Rob Verhofstad, Chair of the Executive Board, HAN University of Applied Sciences
