Project VR4Skills: Gaps in the Skills of Employees in Higher Education Institutions Across Europe

As part of the VR4Skills project - Comprehensive Training Framework for Leaders of Internationalization enhanced by Virtual Reality (VR) in a post-pandemic era, a project meeting was held in Belgium from October 2nd to October 4th, 2023. This meeting outlined important guidelines for achieving project outcomes.

The activities of this project meeting, held at UCLL in Leuven, Belgium, included the 'Train the Trainer' training and a project meeting with project partners. The meeting was attended by Nina Turčin, the project manager at DOBA Business School, and mag. Vesna Kolenc Potočnik, who will be involved in the training implementation.

The 'Train the Trainer' training covered topics related to the preparation of modules for developing the skills of non-academic staff at universities across Europe. The preparation of the training is based on the analysis of skills gaps, which was conducted in the first phase of the project.

Participants were introduced to various teaching methods, including:

  • Kolb's learning cycle
  • Problem-solving/scenario/case study-based learning
  • Self-paced learning
  • Flipped classroom
  • Gagne's 9 events of instruction or Gagne's teaching model

A special focus of the meeting was also on preparing scenarios for the use of virtual reality, which will be utilized within the project for the development of the target group's skills.

Based on the acquired knowledge, trainers will prepare a training program, which will be piloted in January and April 2024.
