Practical Knowledge for a Dynamic Business World: Business Management

15. july 2025

For successful business performance in today’s fast-changing world, a thorough understanding of global trends and challenges is crucial. These include the development of new markets, the expansion of emerging technologies, social changes (such as an ageing population), and strong international interconnectedness. In response to these changes, DOBA Business School has developed a modern study programme, Business Management, which equips students with concrete knowledge, competencies, and practical experience for a successful career in today’s and tomorrow’s business environment.

The programme offers studies across four well-structured specialisations. Each provides in-depth expertise in the chosen field whilst also enabling the development of broader managerial skills needed for effective leadership in diverse organisational contexts:

  • Management,
  • Human Resource Management,
  • Digital Management,
  • Tourism Management.

The development of future managers’ competences is achieved by linking the study process with business practice, through work on company projects, and by involving guest lecturers in courses. Students work on real projects for companies, where they address current challenges, analyse markets, design business models, prepare strategic plans, and develop innovative solutions to complex issues. Among the completed projects and applied assignments, notable examples include strategic company analyses (PEST, SWOT, Porter), the development of digital strategies, the integration of sustainable solutions into business operations, the preparation of business plans and marketing strategies, crisis communication and internal PR, measures for managing older employees, neuromarketing research, as well as the creation and testing of prototypes.

For the successful planning and execution of business management functions, future managers require not only professional knowledge but also so-called soft skills. Among the most important are leadership abilities, critical thinking and decision-making, analytical skills, project management, and the ability to process and interpret information. Students develop and enhance these competences in every course, through active engagement, collaboration, and the solving of real-world challenges. In 2025, guest lecturers also shared their best practices with students, including:

  • Lidija Rakuša, Marketing Director at SPAR Slovenija
  • Karin Zagomilšek Cizelj, Corporate Communication Specialist at Elektro Maribor
  • Andreja Iljaš, director of HIŠA IDEJ,
  • Matej Vukmanič, Chief Commercial Officer at Lumar IG,
  • Natalija Bauman Lampret, Head of Internal Trainers at Zavarovalnica SAVA, as well as other distinguished professionals.

The Management in Contemporary Business programme has already been successfully completed by 3,829 graduates, who today are creating breakthrough stories in leading positions across companies and organisations both in Slovenia and abroad. Many of them developed their own entrepreneurial ideas during their studies and successfully tested them on the market – with the support of lecturers and mentors from practice.
